Chapter 1 | Pre-War Scarlett
Gilded Southern Softness & Untouched Belle Romance
26AW opens its sartorial storytelling with the first chapter of Scarlett O’Hara’s timeless glamour—the pre-war era, a portrait of unspoiled aristocratic femininity and youthful innocence. As the stubborn, spirited belle of Southern plantation, Scarlett O’Hara is far more than a classic cinematic figure. In her early youth, she embodied the quintessential Southern aristocratic girl: vibrant, charming, and indulged by a privileged life, with a natural romantic temperament and a delicate, eye-catching grace. It is this pure, unscarred youth and innate soft charm that defines the aesthetic tone of our first collection chapter. Rooted in the elegant dressing codes of the old Southern nobility, this part of our collection captures the delicate, dreamy tenderness of Scarlett’s early years, interpreting classic vintage romance through refined silhouettes and exquisite detailing.
In the peaceful pre-war days, Scarlett’s iconic wardrobe was defined by classic noble tailoring: graceful high waists, full and loose flowing skirts, and soft, fluid lines that perfectly portrayed the pampered fragility and gentle charm of a young aristocratic lady. Every outfit was a symbol of privileged protection, embodying the traditional, ornamental soft femininity of the era—tender, elegant, and endlessly romantic.
To faithfully restore this timeless aesthetic, our 26AW pre-war themed styles adopt classic vintage silhouettes centered on elevated high waist lines and relaxed billowy skirts. The optimized proportion modification retains the gentle and graceful posture of noble court dresses, softening the body lines and presenting a gentle, delicate feminine posture that pays homage to Scarlett’s unspoiled youthful charm.
In terms of fabric and detailing design, we take inspiration from the pure sweetness of Scarlett’s girlhood and add exquisite lace trims and delicate edge embellishments to multiple dresses and blouses. The lightweight and layered lace texture injects rich romantic sense and delicate ritual into the minimalist silhouette, effectively upgrading the overall refinement of the garments. These subtle soft details interpret the innocence and vitality of young Scarlett, balancing the sense of retro nobility and daily wearability.
Matching the soft romantic silhouette, the partial tailored upper structures retain gentle contouring, echoing the soft and tender temperament of pre-war aristocratic dressing. This series focuses on expressing romance, innocence and noble softness, freezing the most gorgeous and tender youthful posture in Scarlett’s life, and presenting a retro and dreamy winter aesthetic for modern wearers.
